A wrinkled lead cube sets askew, tilted
on the floor. It appears to be partially sunken into the surface
of the floor. A four-inch diameter red brown persimmon limb rises
from the side of the cube facing mostly horizontal. It’s a
dark red brown and has just a few touches of the light white sap
wood showing. It makes a large sweeping curve away and then forward
again reaching a height of eighty-one inches but, following the
curve of the line it measures one hundred inches. The flow of this
curve is interrupted just after traveling thirty-six inches by a
large six-inch cube of white oak. It seems like the limb passes
right though it. In another six inches it meets a second six-inch
cube and as it continues about six to eight inches at a time until
it passes through three more six inch cubes. After it passes through
the fifth and final cube it flairs slightly and has an acute V slot.
This shape seems familiar, it may be the head of a snake with its
mouth slightly open, but it looks twisted upside down, like it has
flipped over on it’s back. There is not the familiar forked
snakes tongue.
Now, have these cubes been pierces
or have they captured or grown around the limb or this snake?
