This started out as a one of the stump
series and was totally sanded and finished as three different sculptures
before it ended up in this final form. It is a piece of pecan that
almost looks like a bust and has a very out of balance look to it.
The flat side, where the limb was originally sawn off the trunk
of the tree, still shows the chain saw marks that are now highly
polished and it has a deep patina and many wormholes. There are
cracks in the face that make a very distinctive cross and it is
also full of holes. The backside is Spalted Pecan with the typical
browns, yellow, gold, black, and gray figuring running through it.
