A sixteen inch long almost three inch
equilateral triangle bar of burl walnut stretches out with a very
slight arch on the bottom so just the two ends of the bar touch
the ground. It is very polished but still has some of the saw scars.
Someone has tried to polish the scars. Rising from the sides of
the burls rich golden brown of light and dark swirls are long pointed
one quarter to one half inch round swirling flame shaped of wood.
At the end of one side a flame of purple heart swirls up sixteen
inches and points away from the bar, it is flanked by two smaller
pieces of purple heart both pointing to the other side. Five more
small flames of orange red juniper are spaced to the end, each pointing
a different direction. On the opposite side and opposite end of
the triangular bar a dark red padauk flame also rises up sixteen
inches and ends as if trying to reach the flame at the other end.
Two smaller padauk flames and a single white maple flame flank this
flame. On this side also five more small flames made of white maple
space to the other end. This sculpture shows just a single moment
in the fire of our relationships. Another day the flames may be
different.
