This piece is centered around a debarked,
sanded, oiled and waxed bois’d arc branch. The top of the
branch “T’s” with two large branches jutting out
to the left and right, three and six inches respectively. Attached
to the end of the left branch with a thick steel dowel is a six-inch
pecan cube and to the right a smaller three-inch pecan cube. Continuing
down the main branch angles slightly to the right for about a foot
and then angles back to the left for roughly three and one-half
feet. The branch then splits into two smaller branches which angle
away from each other. The left branch splits two more times than
the right one. At the end of these terminations are small walnut
cubes attached with steel dowels. This piece was the first pedestrian
sculpture although it is a totally abstract stick and has resemblance
to today’s human figure.
