This is the first painted stick from
the Pedestrian Amazonian Series. This sculpture is a mobile piece
and hangs by an one eighth inch cable from a tree. Like the more
abstracts at the start of my pedestrian series in polished wood,
this piece is from the first set of Amazonians that were more abstract
than the series is today. It fell during a storm from the pecan
tree in the back yard. I recognized it right away as my Grandfather
Olton. He always thought he was driving fast, like he thought the
chicks were chasing him. It has a long head with one arm down and
the other up for the shifter and many legs wondering around. It’s
painted red so it has got to be fast.
