21 inches tall, 24 inches wide, 16 inches deep This piece is a 120-pound piece of finely sanded, oiled and waxed walnut and with mirror polished aluminum. As with all the stump series pieces, this sculpted piece of walnut starts at a 16 inch in diameter is designed to set on the floor. Very near the top it branches into two slight apposing irregular rounded almost horizontal surfaces. These stubby branches are cut off at apposing angles about one inch after they V, their lengths almost immeasurable. One side of the V is a 10 inch diameter the other side a 12 inch diameter. The walnut is color mostly the rich golden browns characteristics of this species. Most of its surface is covered by hundreds of black brown half inch oval worm holes. Most of the worm holes don’t penetrate far below the surface, allowing you to see the bottom of the shiny finished hole. There are many other variations in surface of this walnut, moving around you will see a V of variegated light and dark striping, further around a 8 inch wide scar where a limb tore as it fell ripping off some of this stump, two bulb eye looking knots are right below the tear. Each of the top cuts is covered with an inch and a half thick aluminum plate. The mirror polish of two pieces aluminum accents the irregular diameter of the top surface they exactly mate. The aluminum plate is attached with extra large countersunk slotted screws. The three quarter inch diameter screw head are set in about 1 inch from the edge of the aluminum plate. They are equally spaced from each other but follow the irregular pattern. Nine screws on the lager plate and seven screws on the smaller plate. Looking down you see yourself.
